In an effort to control training costs and deliver consistent online learning
programs to its 1,500 countrywide employees, Utica National Insurance Group is
launching an innovative online new-hire training program. The e-Learning
initiative is powered by the latest version of the popular FlexTraining
Learning Management System.
FlexTraining is a complete learning management system, which
works with any web browser over the Internet or a corporate Intranet. It lets customers build, deliver and manage
custom online training and testing over a local or distributed network.
"Our initial online courses will play a key role in introducing new
employees to the insurance industry and the company," said Cherie Mullen,
Director of Learning for Utica National. Course topics among the
introductory offerings will include ergonomic awareness, insurance essentials
and technical software training. Department-specific courses will then be
developed and delivered online to Utica's entire employee population.
With FlexTraining, customers use “system options” to quickly
adapt the software to their specific needs, without programming. FlexTraining also comes with complete source
codes, for customers who need to customize their system beyond the considerable
flexibility offered by numerous configuration options.
Course material is currently being developed as Word documents, HTML and
PowerPoint presentations in conjunction with online testing and tracking
features, creating a complete education management system. "We're
excited about the opportunity the system affords us to deliver learning
programs to a wider number of people. To the degree we can greater
contribute to our employees' job success, we can contribute to the company's
success," Ms. Mullen said.
Utica National Insurance Group is based in upstate New York. Founded in 1914, Utica sells through independent insurance agents
and is among the top 75 property-casualty insurance organizations in the United States.
